PROPOSED AUSTRALIAN ENVIRONMENTAL LAW REFORMS:
The Federal Government has promised to reform current environmental laws, to reflect better its Nature Positive Plan. The first stage of reforms will be the Nature Repair Market Act 2023. The Nature Repair Market Act aims to facilitate private investment in nature repair and restoration. It plans to do this by introducing a market of tradeable biodiversity certificates.
What do we think? Is the government doing enough, or do they need to do more? Will this even work?
