How does environmental law impact human rights?
The existence and advancements we now have in our world today impacts our everyday life in many ways, be it direct or indirect. Knowing the importance the environment has in our lives, it becomes a critical matter to discuss and impose certain restrictions or rules to help regulate commercial, industrial, residential, agricultural and other areas in order to restrict the negative impact we have on our environment.
In light of this, maintaining the environment leads to a good impact on us humans as we are naturally more connected to the nature. As this allows us to connect with the nature more openly, it extends and widens our ability to seek pleasure from our basic human rights such as right to food, water, life, health and sanitation.
With time, we have more and more studies that show the relevance and links between environmental law and human rights. This is due to the great factor of how certain human activities can restrict the access to human rights by simply causing harm to the environment such as that of, right to a clean and healthy environment. As a matter of fact, some nations have now incorporated a right to a healthy environment as a law in their jurisdictions, in an effort to widen the scope of human rights linked to the need of environment.
